Currently the Tigers hold a 44-44 record at the All-Star break and are about 8.5 games behind Kansas City for 1st in the AL Central. They are also a few games out of the wildcard spot..so...needless to say, it doesn't look pretty. For a team that started the season extremely hot (I believe 14-2 or 12-2) it's a very disappointing record. Now the question I've seen a lot is, should the Tigers be sellers at the trade deadline? It's actually not a crazy idea anymore. My personal opinion is yeah they should. My reasons for this are
1. We have a HORRIBLE farm system. We have no assets to trade to get pieces for our bullpen.
2. The injury to Miguel Cabrera is a huge problem. He's gone until August.
I say it's time to sell and just try and make a huge run in a couple years. They can move a few older guys and see what prospects they can get in return. In my opinion, this year is a lost cause. It's over. They have no shot. But hey, I'm not Dave Dombroski or Mike Illitch.
